Born in Queens and raised in New York City and Colombia, Richard was always artistically inclined, exploring painting, sketching and architecture. 

Through an unexpected day in Central Park with his first digital camera, Rich discovered photography is his preferred medium and the one that most expresses his vision. Photography grew into a hobby until being asked to shoot for a fashion catalog. Rich was inspired to create his business, Rich Villa Photography, featuring boxing, a lifelong passion, and growing to fashion, editorial and event photography. 

Rich draws inspiration from his mentor and friend, Chris Farina, who he has had the privilege to work alongside for premium boxing events. 

Rich resides in Brooklyn with his wife, and regularly photographs events and portraits in the tri-state area.
